A Piece of German Treachery

The caption on the back of this card reads:

A French officer gives the following description of German treachery. He says:- "Soon after came an
officer with a white flag. I stood up above the trench, four men with me. 'There are sixty of us' the officer said.
'We are ready to surrender.' Naturally my men thought it was all over and began to look out and stand up
to stretch themselves a bit. Almost immediately a machine-gun hidden in the wood began upon us.
Down we dropped and peppered them for all we were worth. We sent them off again leaving a
lot of dead and wounded behind them." Our picture describes the incident.
